A stake we hold
Number one is ours. Its place at the head of the page comes from that ownership, and the card, the opening section and the method notes all make this plain. Any reservation at Four Winds New Buffalo puts money in our own pocket, through the stay and through any referral link involved. The nine hotels after it have other owners; our editors set their order.
Paying for the pages
Our income is referral commission. A reader taps one of our hotel links, books, and a partner may send us a share. Nobody can purchase a position, rewrite a card or preview a draft. The how we earn page goes further.
Choosing and describing a hotel
- Leisure decides. Bedrooms, restaurants, pools, spas, stages and the landscape outside earn a property its spot. The gaming area is neither described nor graded.
- Sources we trust. Official hotel pages come first, followed by a cross-check against public listings. When two listings clash, the detail is dropped or turned into a question for the hotel.
- No made-up figures. Room totals, rates, drive times and awards stay out unless we can stand behind them.
- No guest quotes. We publish no testimonials and accept no paid write-ups.
- Hands-on planning. The team plans its own drives around the lakes and further afield, and writes for people who arrange stays themselves.
